Top 10 ___: Top 10 CCM Bands Over the Last 10 Years

It was about 10 years ago when WOW Hits 2007 was releasing, that I branched out and listened to a wider range of Christian music. From artists like BarlowGirl, Rebecca St. James, Superchick and ZoeGirl, to Tree63, Stellar Kart, Sanctus Real and Hawk Nelson; my musical tastes have certainly evolved from the early days when I just listened to artists like Carman and Delirious?. While over the last 10 years, many bands that I’ve listened to are now disbanded, what had transpired within the 10 years was, and still is, a season of appreciation and enjoyment of music of various styles. So now here I am to start a new series. In light of the new WOW Hits 2017 album releasing in September, here’s my top 10 bands that I have thoroughly enjoyed throughout these last 10 years that I have listened to Christian music on a regular basis. Then next week I’ll discuss my favourite male CCM artists, and then the week after my favourite female CCM artists… and so on. So what are my favourite bands of the last 10 years? Read on to find out.

Top 10 ___: Top 10 CCM Songs Of The Summer 2016

I know, I know, it’s not summer yet, I’m sure you are all thinking… I mean isn’t summer in December, January and February? Well since most CCM albums predominately release first in the U.S., and artists also mostly tour the U.S. before any other country; then I guess for the purposes of this particular top tens post, summer is June, July and August. You could always pretend we are living in the U.S.

Anyway, now that we’ve got that out of the way, on this coming top tens post, we will delve into 15 songs which I reckon will have massive airplay on radio during the upcoming 3 months, as well as also warming our hearts and changing lives during that time also, with their heartfelt lyrics and relatable topic explored. Does that mean that these songs need to be released around that time? Nope, just in my opinion already released (or yet to be released) which will have a big impact in people’s lives during the next few months. Summer, no matter what hemisphere you live in, is a time for just hanging out with your friends, with the windows down and the stereo system blaring out your favourite tunes! So which do I think will I sing off by heart by the end of August? Read on and find out!

Message Mondays – The Struggle

One of my favourite Christian bands of late has been quintet Tenth Avenue North. With songs like “Healing Begins”, “By Your Side”, “For Those Who Can’t Speak”, “Strong Enough to Save” and “Worn” to name a few, they have written and sung some of, what I reckon, have been the most underrated, impacting and confronting songs out of any other CCM band in the industry at the moment. In fact, it was, and still is, their 2012 album The Struggle that has impacted me the most out of all albums the band has done. This message Mondays post in particular is devoted to Tenth Avenue North, and what they have to say about their 2012 album, which I reckon is one of that year’s best (out of every album 2012 has ever produced).

BEST OF 2015- PART 2: TOP 15 MUSIC VIDEOS

Music Videos release every day of the week and every week of the year, so it’s naturally hard to shorten a list of many into that of only 15, that reflects a year in which so much happened in the world of Christian music. Yet here I am, posting about my favourite 15 music videos of the year so far (if my December time, my favourite music videos are different, I’ll post here in the comments). Enough pre-cursor. Here’s my favourite 15 music videos that have debuted in 2015. What are yours? Sound off in the comments.

Worship Wednesdays (What does Worship look like?)

AudioAdrenaline-SoundOfTheSaints_AAPR2

How do you think people should worship? When you travel to your local church for a Sunday morning worship service, what do you expect to see? People singing, everyone raising their hands? Hymns sung, or would it be the latest CCM pop/worship melody to make the rounds on radio currently? How would you respond during worship- jumping up and down, being silent and reflective, kneeling, or hands raised? These are all valid questions to the individual, and some that have divided many throughout the centuries. Just walk into an Anglican church, a Pentecostal church, a Baptist Church, or any other denominational church and you’d probably see what I mean. The definition of worship, aside from it being a lifestyle rather than a genre of music, has meant different things to different people. And here in this new post, we will think of another valid question relating to worship- can you worship and be in God’s presence, as much or maybe even more, when you listen to a rap melody from an artist like TobyMac or Lecrae, rather than a traditional worship artist like Kari Jobe or Chris Tomlin?

Joshua Andre’s Best Of 2014 (Part 1: Albums)

MercyMe welcome to the new

It’s been about nearly two weeks into 2015, how is this year treating each of you?

So now that you’ve read Jon’s best of 2014 list of albums releasing in 2014, let’s dive into see what my choices are. I’ll admit, some of them are the same (we are brothers after all, and love similar kinds of music), but bear with me, cause some choices are different. Though it’s been a bit longer than I originally wanted to post about best albums, let me reveal this long awaited list without further ado. As I list my choices, hopefully you will hear why these albums are special. Hopefully you can be inspired and encouraged by them again and again as well!
