For King and Country – Live From The Sydney Opera House (Concert Review)

Passion. MercyMe. Michael W. Smith. Jonathan Thulin & Charmaine. Casting Crowns. Delirious? Jesus Culture. Hillsong. Hawk Nelson. Superchick. Newsboys. And now added to this list, for KING AND COUNTRY. What is this list, you say? Every artist I have seen in a live setting, be it actually live, or as a house concert. Whatever the case, there’s something unique and different in seeing the band/artist live, as while the songs recorded in studio are great for listening on a personal level, nothing beats the live atmosphere, and everyone else around you singing the exact same lyrics as you, and focusing on singing the words, that you don’t have to worry about how you will act when you’re watching someone live. You can express your enthusiasm and passion in such a setting, and that’s ok, because everyone else would be doing that as well. For it was only yesterday that myself, my brother and a few of my friends saw for KING AND COUNTRY live at the Sydney Opera House (frankly, I can only remember being at the Opera House only once, a long time ago for a Chinese Opera in fact, a performance I thoroughly hated!), so a chance to see arguably one of the most popular CCM acts at the moment in one of the most iconic Australian monumental landmarks was a definite yes for me. Let’s just say that I was absolutely enthralled by the band, and their set-list, though there were a few glaring omissions, was in fact on the money.

BEST OF 2018- PART 13: TOP 30 ALBUMS OF THE ENTIRE YEAR

It’s been a while since I posted a best-of albums/EPs list here on the site. I’ve recently unveiled my favourite 30 songs for the entire year, along with 10 more for good measure (honourable mentions) and thereby, I also figured it was time to impart 30 albums that stood out over the entire year (the site has already uploaded 25 favourite EPs here in this link). And while I myself still haven’t reviewed everything that I’ve wanted to in the year of 2018, I have since come to the conclusion, that 2018 was and is one of my favourite years in terms of music (though I think I’ve said that about the year of 2017 in music, as well!). And thus here we are in January 2019, as I am unveiling my favourite 30 albums of the entire year, and ten more that would’ve fit in if I had listened to songs and albums in a different order than what I actually did. Nevertheless, what I will say is this- 2018 for was was the year of the worship artist; alongside folk artists [Andrew Peterson], alternative artists [The New Respects] and just plain pop artists [Riley Clemmons, for KING AND COUNTRY]. Without further ado, here below are 30 albums that have influenced us as a site for the entire duration of 2018 and then beyond. Which albums have impacted you? Let us know in the comments. Til next time!

BEST OF 2018- PART 4: Top 20 Music Videos of January – June

With four days to go before June 2018 is over and then we’re heading into the second half of the year; I sit back and reflect- gee, this year has gone by real fast. And yes, I mean really fast. And I know I probably say this every year, but I truly believe that this year has the most music, music videos and albums that have resonated with us as a site…but then again, if we were to revisit years gone past, we may have to revise our lists. Nevertheless, as each year progresses, I am able to appreciate more and more music, and admire and take note of very exquisite videos in the process. So without further ado, here below are 20 music videos that have stood out for us during the first half of the year. What are yours? Let us know in the comments. Til next time!

Top 10 ___: Top 10 CCM Bands Over the Last 10 Years

It was about 10 years ago when WOW Hits 2007 was releasing, that I branched out and listened to a wider range of Christian music. From artists like BarlowGirl, Rebecca St. James, Superchick and ZoeGirl, to Tree63, Stellar Kart, Sanctus Real and Hawk Nelson; my musical tastes have certainly evolved from the early days when I just listened to artists like Carman and Delirious?. While over the last 10 years, many bands that I’ve listened to are now disbanded, what had transpired within the 10 years was, and still is, a season of appreciation and enjoyment of music of various styles. So now here I am to start a new series. In light of the new WOW Hits 2017 album releasing in September, here’s my top 10 bands that I have thoroughly enjoyed throughout these last 10 years that I have listened to Christian music on a regular basis. Then next week I’ll discuss my favourite male CCM artists, and then the week after my favourite female CCM artists… and so on. So what are my favourite bands of the last 10 years? Read on to find out.
