Worship Wednesdays (Matthew West- Hello My Name Is)

matthew west hello my name is

Worship songs don’t necessarily have to be songs sung on a Sunday morning. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the songs by Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, Bethel, Hillsong or any other artist that normally has church songs in circulation in every corner of the globe. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the songs everyone classifies as worship, even if you yourself identify more with pop/rock (or just rock) compared with the vertical praise melodies you often hear on millions of praise CD’s produced each year. Why? Because worship is a lifestyle, rather than a genre of music that producers, marketers and executives of the CCM industry make it out to be. Worship is laying down every part of ourselves as a living sacrifice before the Lord rather than a style of singing, or how we lift our hands to God every Sunday. Worship is how we live our lives as an act of serving to others rather than the correct words we use during song verses and choruses.

Throwback Tuesdays (Matthew West- History)

matthew west- history

Considering that yesterday’s Message Mondays post was about Matthew West’s “Day One” and it is 2015 (ten years since Matthew West released his album History), I thought it would be fair and appropriate to discuss “History”, the title track off the 2005 album. If you haven’t heard of Matthew or his music, you’re in for a real treat. With songs like “You are Everything”, “Save a Place For Me”, “The Motions”, “Strong Enough”, “Hello My Name Is” and “More”, this singer/songwriter is perhaps one of the most underrated and overlooked, and in my opinion, in the same category lyric-wise as artists like Nichole Nordeman, Bebo Norman or Jason Gray.

Message Mondays (Matthew West- Day One)

I know it’s been a while since 365 Days of Inspiring Media has posted any blogs within the last few months. The reason in itself will have to be reserved for another blog entirely, but let me say this. 2014 was an eventful year for myself- receiving my first full time paying job, starting up a website and everything else that comes with just growing up and being given responsibilities that come with the territory of stepping up and working in a job that I myself didn’t see myself in a year ago today. So what does 2015 hold for me? Personally, I’m not sure. Aside from work, very little free time, and the fact that I’m working in my family in a role that I’m thoroughly enjoying; life is good. And in this Message Mondays post, I’m discussing about Matthew West’s new song “Day One”, and that whatever state we are in at the beginning of the year doesn’t need to be defining of that year itself. That every day is a chance to wake up to a new day and start again, however in a rut we may be in.

Joshua Andre’s Best Of 2014 (Part 2: EP’s, Songs And Anticipated Albums Of 2015)

mercyme greater

Welcome to Part 2 of my Best of 2014 list. In Part 1 we looked at top albums, and now, we will take a look at top songs, anticipated albums of favourite EP’s of 2014. Though it’s true that, like my brother Jonathan, I have not listened to all the EP’s and to all the songs available to me throughout the year, I hope and pray that this somewhat impartial list will at least encourage someone to check out some new music they haven’t listened to before. Without further ado, here’s my list of EP’s, songs and anticipated album releases.

Message Mondays: Joyfully Serving Others For The Kingdom Of God (Matthew West’s Do Something)!

MW-do-something

matthew west do something

Last week on Message Mondays, we delved into the themes present in Tenth Avenue North’s new song “No Man Is An Island”, and how God created us for community with him and also with other believers, that we are meant to live life in communion, relationship and fellowship with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ so that we can build each other up and live a live to the fullest and pleasing to God. This week on Message Mondays, we are talking about something I was reminded of in church yesterday, of a concept that I think we all need to understand and realise so that we can live in true freedom in God’s presence and love!
