Top Tens: Top 20 Inspirational Videos I Have Ever Seen!

The other day, I was writing my most recent blog of Flashback Fridays (about identity, self-worth and insecurities, linking it to MercyMe’s album Almost There), and while I was writing, I figured out that apart from one of the earlier Message Mondays posts last year about how God can use ‘mainstream music’ just as much as ‘Christian music’; I was in the midst of writing one of the most relevant, vulnerable, honest and inspirational blogs I had ever written. Yeah, I know that it’s a pretty big claim, but that’s what I was feeling and sensing from God at the time. That no matter how much time goes on, I will be always able to go back to this 10th blog in Flashback Fridays, and be inspired, no matter how I feel. Now to test that theory, I re-read this blog maybe about 5 times over in the span of the past few days, and I was still overwhelmed by the amount of rich truth I had revealed, that is so applicable now, and maybe will be so applicable later on in the future. More so than any other blog I have ever written, I was blown away by what I had written- it had to be God using me as a vessel, and His words through my fingers on the keyboard. I will ask the opinions of others close to me in the near future, about whether this was the most inspirational blog I have ever written, but I digress.

FLASHBACK FRIDAYS: WEEK 10 (Almost There by MercyMe)- Why there is no such thing as ‘not good enough, not tall enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough, and not worthy enough’; and why we always want to cheer for the underdog!

Recently I’ve been feeling tired of late. Physically exhausted, and tired in the sense that at the end of every day, one of the only things I want to do when I arrive home is to go to sleep. Now partly one of the reasons why this is the case is because of another café a few weeks ago in the shopping centre fully closing down for renovations (and I’m not sure when café in question will re-open, or if at all!) and we are all of a sudden reaping the benefits of extra customers who were previously regulars of the café that closed. More customers means that our store is busier more often, and while it’s a good thing in that we get more money, and we are more well known and respected overall for what we do; the side-effect is tiredness and a general lack of wanting to do anything else when we arrive home except for relaxing and recharging the batteries. But while I have lazed about at home, not really reviewing nor even binge-watching my favourite TV shows, I have been pondering. I have been pondering about what happens when the other café reopens again? Will our ‘new’ regulars flock back there, or will they remain loyal to us? I guess it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, but I do think about what were to happen if all of a sudden quite a few of our irregular customers left for the competition. What would be going through their minds? After all, we weren’t their first café of choice- we were deemed not good enough for them.

FLASHBACK FRIDAYS: WEEK 9 (The Generous Mr Lovewell by MercyMe)- How do we love those who make a mistake, and why do we need to love our neighbour?

Remember last week on Flashback Fridays when I spoke about legacy, and how all we as a human race want is to make connections, however big or small, with anyone and everyone we meet? In that blog, where I linked the theme of living life for God to Nichole Nordeman’s brilliant album Woven And Spun, I also alluded to the fact that once we have figured out what kind of legacy we would like to live, we need to figure out the steps- how to go about actively trying to ensure that the legacy we want to leave behind for future generations, is in fact the end product of everything we are doing today in the moment. How do we reconcile the fact that sometimes we can do things that seem so far away from the legacy that we want people to perceive we have successfully lived?

FLASHBACK FRIDAYS: WEEK 8 (Woven And Spun by Nichole Nordeman)- What’s the Point of Leaving a Life Of Legacy if We’re All going to Die Someday?

One thing I’ve been noticing over the past few weeks especially, is something that I have been pondering about lately. I’ve been seeing a pattern of late, in not just generally the customers that come to our café, but also the retailers, and just generally the people that pass by, sometimes without a care in the world. And it’s a trend that I reckon is more and more prevalent in today’s culture more than anything. What I have been noticing, is that while some regular customers, be it older folk or younger folk, have the same order and the same seat, come on the same day, and dare I say it, talk about the same things, maybe because of habit or routine; other people I see wandering the halls of the shopping centre, either are rushing to whatever appointment they have, or are looking as if they just woke up out of bed, and are bumming around cause they don’t have a clue as to what they want to accomplish with their life. And either way is sad.

FLASHBACK FRIDAYS: WEEK 7 (Blessed Be Your Name by Matt Redman)- How Over-Reliance on Technology can Lead to Detrimental Effects

So, you have clicked on this link, and started to read expecting me to talk about MercyMe, and their hit single “I Can Only Imagine”, right? I mean, the much anticipated movie based on Bart Millard’s life released to cinemas today, so why wouldn’t I talk about how Almost There has shaped my life? Well, I’ve decided to change things around, and save that post for a later date (once I’ve seen the movie!)- and this week I’ll quickly outline a few incidents that occurred over the past few weeks that have reaffirmed my love for another album from this list of 52.

FLASHBACK FRIDAYS: WEEK 6 (MOVE & WHEREVER YOU ARE BY THIRD DAY)- Why Sudden Changes In Our Lives Don’t Have To Be The Be-All and End-All

It’s 6 weeks into my yearlong experiment of Flashback Fridays, and while for the first 5 weeks, I’ve talked about various topics I am passionate about (unbridled worship in week 1, the need to be loved and accepted in week 2, knowing your beliefs and taking a stand in week 3, changing our own world we live in in week 4, and pivotal events in one’s life in week 5), and also linking them to various events in my personal life; this week, I’m going to go straight to the point with hopefully little to no preamble. So I’ll just simply say that last Saturday was probably one of the most saddest days I can ever remember, for me personally.
