FLASHBACK FRIDAYS: WEEK 40 (Haven’t Seen It Yet by Danny Gokey)- So that particular album is in your head! Now what?

Last Friday I was trying to review several albums on my day off from work. I succeeded in part- I reviewed 2 albums (which you can view here and here!), but I was distracted for the most part. While I was reviewing these two albums, I was listening to another album. See Danny Gokey’s album Haven’t Seen It Yet released last week, and I was listening to the 13 songs. I think I listened to that album straight through about 5 or 6 times that day. I wasn’t planning on reviewing the album- and I’m still not; I’ll leave that for Jon to review!- but there was something about these songs that made me keep coming back to them time and time again. I had set aside a block of time to review many more albums that day, but what actually happened was that I ended up listening to Danny’s new album over and over instead! Why is that the case, you say? Was there some divine lesson that God was teaching me through Danny’s music, that He wanted me to see that couldn’t be found through any other music at that time? Did He want me to learn something profound to impart to you guys, or was there one particular song on that album that was relevant to perhaps at least one of your readers? Did He want me to review this album (and hence ‘steal’ it from Jon, who had claimed he was reviewing it as soon as he knew about Haven’t Seen It Yet)?

FLASHBACK FRIDAYS: WEEK 33 (Hope In Front Of Me by Danny Gokey)- In the direst of situations, is there really hope? What’s the point about New Year’s resolutions?

Hands up who loved 2018? Like really loved it? Like ‘everything I set out to do, I did; and everyone I set out to talk to and be friends with, I accomplished that; and every movie/TV show I wanted to see, I saw’? Or how about ‘2018 was the best year ever, I want to relive this past year all over again, exactly how it was?’ All of us? None of us? Each one of us has a different definition of what a ‘successful year’ entails, and according to you, 2018 might have been a breakthrough year. You may have had the best year ever: you might have had a promotion, gotten married, had kids, moved out of home, or maybe finally got around to having that catch up with that friend you’ve been planning to for the past couple of years, and you hit it off again like no time had passed. Or you may have had worst year ever: you could have just split from your spouse, or maybe found out about a terminal illness in a family member or friend or even yourself, or maybe you were betrayed by someone close to you. Whatever the reason for how you are feeling at the end of 2018 and coming into 2019, there is one truth that is true across the board, and there is one thing that we can hold onto for the next 365 days at least.

TOP TWENTY ARTISTS AND SONGS THAT SHOULD BE PRESENT ON WOW HITS 2020

Welcome to the latest installment of our most recent blog series Top Tens. Last time, we unveiled 10 artists and songs that in our opinion should have been included on the official WOW Hits 2019 track listing, but weren’t. This time, on this special post, and in keeping with a similar theme, I will take an educated guess and list 20 songs that should be shoe-ins for WOW Hits 2020 (key word- should… I wrote a similar post last year and only 3 out of the 20 made it on WOW Hits 2019- better than 2/20 for the year before though!). Some songs that I will predict for WOW Hits 2020 are released right now, so audio slides/lyric videos/music videos/song stories will be below, but others haven’t been released yet and I am just predicting based on the artist. Some are singles, and some songs aren’t singles yet (but could be!) Will these tracks be there in a year’s time? Only time will tell.

Top Tens: Top 20 Inspirational Videos I Have Ever Seen!

The other day, I was writing my most recent blog of Flashback Fridays (about identity, self-worth and insecurities, linking it to MercyMe’s album Almost There), and while I was writing, I figured out that apart from one of the earlier Message Mondays posts last year about how God can use ‘mainstream music’ just as much as ‘Christian music’; I was in the midst of writing one of the most relevant, vulnerable, honest and inspirational blogs I had ever written. Yeah, I know that it’s a pretty big claim, but that’s what I was feeling and sensing from God at the time. That no matter how much time goes on, I will be always able to go back to this 10th blog in Flashback Fridays, and be inspired, no matter how I feel. Now to test that theory, I re-read this blog maybe about 5 times over in the span of the past few days, and I was still overwhelmed by the amount of rich truth I had revealed, that is so applicable now, and maybe will be so applicable later on in the future. More so than any other blog I have ever written, I was blown away by what I had written- it had to be God using me as a vessel, and His words through my fingers on the keyboard. I will ask the opinions of others close to me in the near future, about whether this was the most inspirational blog I have ever written, but I digress.

BEST OF 2017- PART 2: TOP 25 ALBUMS OF 2017 (JANUARY – JUNE)

Another few months later, another post. Last time I posted my Best-Of 2017 list, it was incorporating my favourite songs throughout the first three months of the year. Indeed I’ll post another favourite songs list in July (encompassing April – June) and again in September and December. Now in this best-of article, I have decided to reveal our Top 25 albums of the year thus far- from January – June 2017. Now we will also post our favourite albums of July – December in December, and then maybe do another post of the albums that didn’t make it in either list. Because frankly, there’s just too many albums that have released this year to have our favourite 25 for the whole year. There’s just too many! So without further ado, which albums throughout 2017 thus far that have impacted my life during these last 6 months? Read on to find out.
