How would you define being a hero? Is it a calling, or is it part of your DNA? Are you a hero because of your parents, or do you carve out your own destiny for yourself? Are you an everyday her, keeping your head down and continuing to make the world a better place in an unassuming way; or do you crave attention and seek the limelight, wanting to be a hero that everyone sees and appreciates? Last year we all wanted a hero. Because of COVID-19 and the riots originating from the death of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter; we all craved for and longed for a hero to deliver us from the mess we all found ourselves in. We all longed for a saviour and a deliverer. While as a Christian I believe that Jesus is our Saviour and will always be; in 2020 a different kind of saviour arose. It’s not the same as Jesus… but if you want to be encouraged, inspired and reassured that everything in this world will eventually be ok (key word is eventually!), then look no further than CD Universe’s and CW’s joint series Stargirl.

Let me ask you a question for a moment, a question that’s seemingly innocent yet holds more weight than you probably will realise. And that question is this. What was your favourite TV show growing up? Was it the classics of the 70’s and 80’s, like MASH, Fawlty Towers, Dallas, Bewitched, Colombo, Miami Vice, Full House and Quantam Leap? Perhaps you love sci-fi and genre shows, like LOST, Fringe, Once Upon A Time, V, Wynonna Earp, Humans, The Orville, Black Mirror, Roswell, Roswell: New Mexico, Timeless, Manifest or Killjoys? Or maybe you love the comedies… Frasier, Spin City, Samantha Who?, Two And A Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, Mike & Molly, 2 Broke Girls, The Good Place, Parks & Recreation, 30 Rock, New Girl, Brooklyn 99, Modern Family, Superstore or The Goldbergs? Or do you love superhero shows, like the Arrowverse? Whatever you prefer in terms of TV show genre, maybe there’s a show that you place above all others, one that you’d instantly watch, no matter what is going in in your life. Even if you are enduring trials and tribulations beyond what you could ever imagine, is there a TV show in your life that you’d always make time for, rain or hail or sunshine?

BEST OF 2019- PART 8: TOP 15 ANTICIPATED TV SHOWS OF 2020

Here at 365 Days Of Inspiring Media, we try to cover a whole manner of articles- although most of the time we have reverted back to the music album review, because it’s what we know the most and what we’re good at the best. However that doesn’t mean that we aren’t heavily invested in other aspects of media. We have reviewed movies and TV shows in the past, and while we have embarked on one of our most ambitious blog series yet (about influential artists of all time!); we are also set to review all shows of the Arrowverse as well as the humongous crossover Crisis On Infinite Earths. But while you look forward to our other posts (which aren’t music reviews!), let me now give you another post to enjoy- as we this time highlight our most anticipated TV shows of 2020. While it’s true that we may not watch all of these shows; I reckon it’s great to have a list so that we can try to keep up if the pilot is enjoyable. So what are you waiting for? These 15 TV shows deserve a mention- so take a watch of these trailers and let me know if you’re planning on watching these shows!

If you’re like me and are a part of running a relatively successful business (any sort, not just limited to café work!), you’d definitely would agree with me that any free time one would have at the end of the day (any time remaining after working, eating, sleeping, doing admin work at home!) is considered luxury. Maybe it’s 1-2 hours a week. Or maybe it’s a whole entire day. Whatever the case may be, any time left over is probably reserved for yourself and is probably spent curling up in bed, or on the couch, binging through your saved TV shows on Netflix. But what if you’re the adventuring kind. What if you’re the person who gets a rush from adrenaline activities, like camping in the woods or rock-climbing or skiing or snowboarding or abseiling or canoeing or fishing in the middle of the ocean or competing on Ninja Warrior? Well never fear guys, because if you’re time poor and can’t physically do any of these activities then I reckon the next best thing to do is to watch the latest season of Supergirl. Because in Kara Danvers’ spare time from working as a reporter, she definitely undertakes a hefty adrenaline activity- fighting crime across National City as Supergirl!

When you’ve helped the world defeat a time demon, surely- you’re due for a rest, right? I mean, you’ve run around history trying to fix time periods and ensure that anachronisms don’t become bigger, all the while trying to locate all of the 6 totems to defeat Rip Hunter’s nemesis, so after all of that is all said and done, you must be exhausted, right? Aruba here we come, right? A relaxing holiday with nothing to do but sunbake and chill for the foreseeable future? Not quite.

If you’re a murderer or a liar or a cheater, or even if you are prideful, lustful, egocentric, narcissistic or even the littlest bit envious; then that is it for you…right? What you are is what you are for eternity, and there is no room for error, no margin for alteration, nothing in the world that can make you, or persuade you to change your behaviour, or change the reason for your behaviour. But is that really the case? Can a person who has made bad choices really change for the better? Can they be a hero to others and inspire, even when they still struggle with their demons and their better judgement? If I were to tell you that everything that I just mentioned above was wrapped up and presented to us in the form of a superhero show, what would you say? Would you laugh and think I was crazy? Probably. But that exactly is what has come to light, with the seemingly frivolous Legends Of Tomorrow being one of my favourite shows of late- a superhero show with tons of action, and a lot of issues being touched upon, including the notion of people changing for the better.

After reading the recap of Season 1-3 of Supergirl that I recently posted, and from each of the 65 episodes, would you blame Kara Danvers if she felt a bit weary and out of sorts? After all, she’s been betrayed by her aunt and uncle, lost said aunt (because Alex killed her!), lost Mon-El twice (once to time travel, and twice to time travel as well- this time more permanent!), lost her friend Winn (a conscious decision to travel to the future!), and is currently walking on thin ice with her friend Lena Luthor (whom distrusts Supergirl more and more, and is still none the wiser to Kara and the Super being one and the same!). She hasn’t been backed up by Superman in any of her fights, and her last nemesis actually turned out to be a friend with a split personality, who left with her daughter for a fresh start. Does that sum up all of where Kara is at in the beginning of Season 4? Come join me for a bit as I discuss my initial thoughts of the season.

When you were younger, what was your preferred occupation? Was it a farmer, an actor, a musician, a fireman, a policeman, an astronaut, a writer, a chef, a biophysicist? Or was it something more outlandish, like being King or the President? What if you found yourself as a superhero, fighting alien life form and protecting the city, the country and the world from anything that could cause it harm? Well if you want to see how that look like, look no further than Supergirl– just started its fourth season, and one of the many superhero TV shows in the DC Arrowverse on the CW. While I plan to later review the 4th season premiere episode (before episode 2 airs tomorrow!), let me first quickly recap seasons 1-3, so that those of you who aren’t caught up with the series, and those of you who would like to, know what’s going on (and I’ll try not to post many spoilers, but it has been a few years since the show started, so I’m sure most of you already know the things I’m talking about!)
