Message Mondays – The Prodigal Son and Jeremy Camp’s “Take You Back”

jeremy camp Take You Back

Just today, I was preparing dinner for the bible study group to attend as they come to my house often (once every 2-3 weeks) to learn more about Jesus. While I was cooking dinner, with Pandora from my phone blasting at full volume, one of the songs really spoke to me, which was Jeremy Camp’s “Take You Back”- this was a song that demanded attention, not the half hearted listening while I was cooking. So I listened to the song again later tonight.

Top 10 ___ (Introduction): Top Ten Worship Artists!

top 10s music

Welcome to our newest blog series Top Tens, which will be posted every Sunday (Australian time, which may be Saturday in other parts of the world…), where I will be sharing my ‘top ten ____’- whether it be favourite songs, artists for a certain time period (which is obviously a personal opinion and isn’t meant to drag artists down), movie trilogies, Australian food, past times in the summer, activities to undertake at the beach, superheroes, the list goes on. I will also give completely subjective reasons (which are not in concrete and could change this time next year) and then I’ll open the forum and discussion to all of you! This series we’ll be delving into a variety of topics and issues (like what I have already listed), so stay tuned for the upcoming weeks.

Today we’ll be talking about my top (favourite) 10 solo worship artists over the past 10 years (as well as songs from them that made them my favourite artist!), seeing that this site is a music review website first and foremost! So without further ado… here’s my top 10 worship artists (in reverse order)- bands are coming later on, same with favourite artists (based on songs) for other genres.

Futuristic Fridays and Sentimental Saturdays (The Future of Albums)

cds

Music has always been a medium where people communicated ideas, and said what was on their hearts, regardless of whether it was controversial, heartfelt, emotive, encouraging or even confronting. Music has always been a universal language of sorts- whatever emotion you were feeling (or still feeling), there is possibly a song out there that speaks directly to you and your needs. I can remember back when I was a teenager, purchasing albums and listening just for listening sake, enjoying music for what it is- music. Call me old fashioned, but I am not looking forward to the day when CD’s become out of print.

WOW Hits 2015: What’s Your Prediction?

wow hits 2015

The series of WOW Hits, an annual compilation featuring the supposed best of songs in Christian music in a current year, have always been one of the most popular, criticised and publicised releases within Christian music. Always before a list releases of what songs would be on a WOW Hits of any given year, fans of the compilation franchise have always made their fantasy lists of what they would like to appear on a certain WOW disc, and this year is no different.

TV Thursdays: Do We Know Our Neighbours Inside And Out? (Eureka)

eureka.cast

I know, I know, with a title like that, you probably might expect me to talk about stranger danger and mention that we never truly know someone until they do something horrific, and show their true colours. How I might say that our neighbours or close friends could be living double lives and we won’t know until much later. But that’s the opposite of what I am going to delve into today. Instead, let me ask you a question. When was the last time you had a conversation with your neighbour, and learn more about their story and life’s journey? When was the last time you said hello, had a cup of coffee with them and talked about a common topic? It may surprise you that not everyone has a secret agenda, and some people are genuinely nice because they are.
