Sean Curran, previously from Bellarive, and now a worship leader at Passion; is one of the most creative, passionate, inspiring, powerful, honest, authentic, and vulnerable worship leaders and singer/songwriters right now. That’s a fact. We at this site reviewed Sean’s previous EP’s Bigger Than I Thought and 1,000 Names (Jon reviewed both!), and so if you want to know everything about Sean and what we as a site think about his worshipful songs; then read these reviews at your own pace. Like Jon, I have loved Sean’s music and he is one of my favourite worship leaders right now. So, when I found out that Sean just unveiled his brand-new EP Café Sessions– acoustic renditions of some of his hit songs; I thought ‘well, I just have to review that now, don’t I?’. Café Sessions isn’t the most ground-breaking worshipful EP. But Sean’s passion (no pun intended!) as well as his power, poise, and grace in his voice, remind us all, of the power of God working in Sean and through him as well.

This EP isn’t really a new EP. It’s acoustic versions of already-known songs; but that doesn’t mean that these melodies aren’t enjoyable. “1,000 Names” with Phil Wickham is just sublime, while “Worthy Of Your Name” is just as compelling and moving each and every time I’ve listened to the song. “Catchy Me Singing”, “Shake The Dust Off” and “Ways”, from Sean’s latest album, are each inspiring, impacting and compelling acoustic guitar led versions; while “Bigger Than I Thought” is probably my favourite Sean Curran song ever. There’s something about Sean’s music that is special and magical- and if you haven’t heard of Sean and his music; you’re definitely in for a real treat! My absolute favourite EP of the year; Sean Curran is one musician to look out for this coming year. And so, is there any other reason to check out this EP other than ‘this is worship music at its finest’? No other reason needed! Well done, Sean, I can’t wait to hear what God has in store for you next! A full-length solo worship album?
