Sean Curran– Led Me To You (Single) (Amazon mp3/iTunes)

Track Listing:

  1. Led Me To You

Sean Curran, previously from Bellarive, and now a worship leader at Passion; is one of the most creative, passionate, inspiring, powerful, honest, authentic, and vulnerable worship leaders and singer/songwriters right now. That’s a fact. We at this site reviewed Sean’s previous EP’s Bigger Than I Thought, 1,000 Names and Café Sessions, and so if you want to know everything about Sean and what we as a site think about his worshipful songs; then read these reviews at your own pace. Since listening to Bellarive and Passion, I have loved Sean’s music and he is one of my favourite worship leaders right now. So, when I found out that Sean just released his brand new single “Led Me To You”; I thought ‘well, I just have to review that now, don’t I?’. Sean’s passion (no pun intended!) as well as his power, poise, and grace in his voice, remind us all, of the power of God working in Sean and through him as well. And so, does “Led Me To You” compare to Sean’s previous hits and to also other hit singles from this year?

Unfortunately, this melody is a tad underwhelming. It’s a CCM song (not a worship song), and it seems as if Sean decided to write ‘generic’ pop songs in favour of interesting, honest and vulnerable worship songs. I get it- a song has to do well on radio, and CCM radio is undoubtedly and incredibly generic. But Sean still is an exceptional song-writer- so this song baffles me. Sean’s voice is nonetheless stellar, and so this song is still listenable. But Sean should move back to worship for future songs- if he releases a pop/CCM album, then I probably will listen to it, but I suppose I may be apathetic towards it as time goes on. Lyric-wise, there’s nothing ‘wrong’ per se in these lyrics- Sean sings about going through trials and that all of the wins and losses from his life led him to find Jesus. Yes, that is true in the truest sense of the word. But the repetition and lazy writing here is something that, right now I can look past, but later on I may not be able to.

Despite this hiccup though, there’s something about Sean’s music that is overall special and magical- and if you haven’t heard of Sean and his music; you’re definitely in for a real treat! Sean Curran is one musician to look out for this coming year. And so, is there any other reason to check out his discography other than ‘this is worship music at its finest’? And then check out “Led Me To You” if you want to? No other reason needed! Well done, Sean, I can’t wait to hear what God has in store for you next! A full-length solo worship album?
