Sentimental Saturdays (Newsboys)

newsboys- peter furler

newsboys- michael tait

I wonder where you all were when Peter Furler, longtime member of possibly one of Christian music’s most famous bands ever, announced that he was stepping away from being the front-man of the Newsboys. I know where I was- in front of my computer, staring at the words, as if, at the time, everything else didn’t matter except for the news that was right in front of me. There was a moment where I thought I would never buy a Newsboys album again. Not because I knew that Michael Tait wasn’t a worthy replacement, but rather it was because the Newsboys that was going to be; may not have been the Newsboys I had grown to love when Peter was front man.

TV Thursdays (New TV Shows of 2014)

tv shows

If you know me by now through all the blog posts and reviews I have posted for 365 Days of Inspiring Media (no, I am not Josh, who usually writes for TV Thursdays, but rather his brother, Jon, who’s writing a guest post this week), you probably know that I watch a whole lot of TV. Rebecca St. James

Aside from artists like Delirious?, Carman, Steven Curtis Chapman (in fact, I think Signs of Life was the first CD our family received- even before we had a CD player), Tim Hughes, Steve Grace and Planetshakers (their 2003 album Rain Down), our CCM albums/artists knowledge wasn’t to the point where you’d call us a fan of it. Nevertheless, a few WOW Hits albums purchases a few years later- WOW Hits 2005, 2006 and WOW Worship Aqua (fuelled by our enjoyment of WOW Hits 2004), we took the plunge and purchased our first CCM album by a female artist in 2006- Rebecca St. James’s 2005 album If I Had One Chance to Tell You Something.

Futuristic Fridays (The Future of Friendship)

facebook  twitter

Things must’ve been pretty weird, or maybe even simple, before the advent of facebook, twitter, or even the internet. Before any of that, there were just the people around your neighbourhood. There was the home TV instead of your personal computer, there was playing sports with friends instead of the Nintendo Wii console, there was cassette tapes, vinyl players and the like, instead of now Spotify, Youtube, mp3 files and iTunes. Before technology, life as we would think, was simpler. Maybe even boring to us, the life our parents and grandparents lived was one where friendships were much easier to form, and much harder to break.
