The Young Escape– Good Life (Single) (Amazon mp3/iTunes)

Wow, wow, wow! Can I just say wow again for good measure? Just yesterday I was browsing through my twitter feed, and came across a, up and coming band just signed to Capitol Christian Music Group. Jesus Freak Hideout was the site to break the news, and from that I listen to The Young Escape’s debut single “Good Life”. What a single it is! Probably one of my favourite pop/worship songs of the year period. Yep, it’s so enjoyable, that I have decided to post my thoughts on it just for a bit. With the band comprising of Ryan, McKenna, Kyrsten and Luke Johns, the sibling quartet is definitely sure to make a name for themselves, as we are blessed to hear a sonically sound bubbly, infectious, vibrant and eclectic melody, with the group loudly and unashamedly singing that because of Jesus in their lives, they have a good life, and by extension, so do every son and daughter of God.
So what is it about The Young Escape that everyone should drop what they’re doing and listen to the track “Good Life” right now? Or whenever they next can? Well, in my opinion, if you mesh together Hillsong Young And Free, Bonray, Cimorelli, Lauren Daigle, OBB and Dara Maclean, then you get this band, vocally, lyrically and musically. And that’s pretty impressive alone, to be compared to each of these inspiring and world changing groups and artists. And next of all, the song is pretty cool. IT’s extremely catchy and I cannot say enough positive things about this group. As they unequivocally highlight the fact that ‘…I never knew I could find peace, until You found me, showed me who I could be, and now I know that this is the good life, never looked back, wouldn’t trade it for a day in my own life, never looked back cause I know that You are always with me, I got You and I know You got me, this is the good life, You gave me the good life…’, the lyrics can get a bit repetitive at times, but there’s something about the song that gives me goosebumps. In a really good way though.
There’s nothing much more that I can say about this song. Except you need to hear it now. The perfect song to get you dancing, and think about the deeper things in life, and whether you are living your life or God’s plan for your life; The Young Escape are a band that I expect to hear more from in the coming months and years. So, what are you waiting for? Check out the band and let me know what you think of this bouncy and joyful single!
