Three letters. One acronym. Definitely an up-and-coming future influencer. A ‘H’. An ‘E’. An ‘R’. and now we have a Grammy Award winner and presumably an artist that will continue to shake the foundation and the many perceptions of what uplifting and inspiring music should sound like. Born Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, H.E.R. won the Song Of The Year at the 2021 Grammys for the thought-provoking and confronting “I Can’t Breathe”- and while we won’t go into details and specifics of what H.E.R. is all about and her history (there’s Wikipedia for that, as well as my blog in the future!); what I will say is that the song that for me ‘put her on the map’ so to speak- would have been “Hold Us Together”. A song that for all intents and purposes is a worship song, but a song that can also be interpreted as being from one friend to another or from one friend to their mentor.

I personally haven’t seen the Disney Plus movie Safety, for which this song is inspired by. When the film released in December, I hadn’t subscribed to Disney Plus. Now that I have… well, it’s on my watch list, but I haven’t got around to it. But after I’ve heard H.E.R.’s song, and her collaboration with Tauren Wells and her music video for this song; well let’s just say that I am floored, I am blown away, and I’m amazed at many different musical genres colliding together and God working for the good of those who love Him. I think I’ll watch Safety very, very soon, and let me say this- that “Hold Us Together” is pure worship at its finest- and though one may say that ‘H.E.R. isn’t a Christian!’- let’s not judge what is in the heart of only what God could know. Why should we play judge, jury and executioner when all we’re called to do as believers is to love like Jesus loved? Anyway, enough rambling- let us sit back and listen to one of the year’s most inspiring songs ever! And marvel at a star in the making. Mark my words, everyone- H.E.R. is going to be BIG. And I mean very BIG. Why not jump on the band wagon now?

I will trust in You and know that You are with me forever
I’ll confide in You ’cause You’re the only answer that matters

Even in the darkness, You will be my light
Even when I’m hopeless, You will be my guide
I will not be shaken, I will not be moved
Even in the chaos, I know that You’re good

You’re the keeper, protector
It is You that holds us together
When everything else fails us
It is You that holds us together
Oh-whoa-whoa, oh-whoa-oh

I will trust in You, Your thoughts and plans of me, they are good
Mmh, I’ll wait on You, I know that You will see me through

Even in the darkness, You will be my light
Even when I’m hopeless, You will be my guide
I will not be shaken, I will not be moved
Even in the chaos, I know that You’re good

You’re the keeper, protector
It is You that holds us together
When everything else fails us
It is You that holds us together (oh You’re)
You’re the keeper (You are), protector
It is You that holds us together (when every)
When everything (else fails) else fails us (it is You)
It is You that holds us together

Together
Holds us together

You’re the keeper, protector (together)
It is You that holds us together
Everything (else fails us) else fails us
It’s You that holds us together (hold us)
You’re the keeper (hold us), protector (oh, protector)
It’s You that holds us together (oh, You)
When everything (everything) else fails us
It’s You that holds us together

You’re the keeper, protector
It is You that holds us together
When everything else fails us
It is You that holds us together
