The Young Escape– Never Fade (Single) (Amazon mp3/iTunes)

Track Listing:

  1. Never Fade

Wow, wow, wow! The Young Escape is back and at it again! If you haven’t read my glowing review of the sibling quartet’s debut label single “Good Life”, then you can check it out here, but basically, I have Jesus Freak Hideout to thank, for introducing me to this passionate band of young believers, striving to make God famous through their relevant and catchy pop tunes. Comprising of Ryan, McKenna, Kyrsten and Luke Johns, The Young Escape is definitely an up and coming band that you would want to check out and keep an eye on in the future, as we are wowed more and more, and blessed by these inspiring musicians.

With “Good Life” being a 3-minute pop tune, have a guess what “Never Fade” sounds like. Yep- it’s another 3-minute pop tune! Good guess! But in all seriousness, with lead McKenna vocally sounding similar to both Hollyn and Lauren Daigle, we’re in for a real treat, especially with these deep and meaningful lyrics. Though the chorus is a bit repetitive and cliché, it’s the verses that really sell the song here. As McKenna reiterates and asks questions, crying out ‘…are we losing control, falling deeper into the unknown? and chasing our ghosts, trying to break through these shadows alone…we’ve been walking in a midnight of blindness, searching for the road, but it’s winding, we’re looking for the truth, we can’t find it, so, we say, show the way…’, then later on providing us hope that ‘…we give You control, and we make You the source of our hope, and carry us home, fix the pieces and roll back the stones, and we can see there’s a point we’ve been missing, believe You’re the reason for breathing, and all we need is what You’re already giving…’; it’s hard to believe that this is their second song released ever. It’s lyrically strong and mature way beyond their years as an artist, and this is one reason why you should all check out The Young Escape. They’re only going to be better. Trust me.

In my opinion, if you mesh together Hillsong Young And Free, Bonray, Cimorelli, Lauren Daigle, OBB and Dara Maclean, then you get this band, vocally, lyrically and musically. That’s pretty impressive alone, to be compared to each of these inspiring and world changing groups and artists, yet The Young Escape are their own band and have their own sound as well- and there’s nothing much more that I can say about “Never Fade”, and “Good Life” before that. Except you need to hear these songs now. The perfect track to get you dancing, and think about the deeper things in life, The Young Escape are a band that I expect to hear more from in the coming months and years. So, what are you waiting for? Check out the band and let me know what you think of this new bouncy and joyful single!
