One of my favourite worship leaders and singer/songwriters of late, Phil Wickham has this uncanny ability to write gems, which on the surface may be very underrated, and could slip under the radar; but defying logic quickly rise to become anthems for the church and hits on the radio. Ever since hit chart topping single “Grace” and “After Your Heart”, Phil has just kept churning out hit after hit- accessible for the church yet lyrically sound and complex, and also not threatening nor condemning either. From explosive and vibrant hits such as “At Your Name (Yahweh, Yahweh)”, “Battle Belongs”, “Living Hope”, “Til I Found You”, “Wonderful”, “It’s Always Been You”, “Reason I Sing”, “My All In All”, “The Secret Place”, “I’ll Always Love You” and “This Is Amazing Grace”, to other inspiring melodies such as “Your Love Awakens Me”, “Safe”, “Beautiful”, “Great Things”, “Hymn Of Heaven”, “His Name Is Jesus”, “Glory”, “Heaven Fall Down”, “When My Heart Is Torn Asunder”, “House Of the Lord”, “1000 Names”, “God Of Revival”, and “This Love Will Last Forever” (did I name, along with “Grace” and “After Your Heart”, a potential greatest hits album?); Phil has shown us that quality work and long lasting impressions can and often do result from persistent effort in one’s craft and the desires that God has put in our hearts.

Enter in “Love Of God”, a hymn like worship melody and duet with Brandon Lake– cowritten with Cody Carnes and Benjamin William Hastings. Not present on Phil’s release I Believe nor Brandon’s album Coat Of Many Colors; the “Living Hope”-like worship melody speaks about the love of Jesus, and essentially outlines the essence of the gospel. The Easter themed melody recounts that it is Jesus’ love that led him to die on the cross and to rise again for our sinsl it is the biblical and ever-true lyrics that impress me greatly. I have high hopes for any Phil Wickham song, and this melody is indeed up to my lofty standards. It’s a track that is near-flawless like every other Phil Wickham song. It’s what I’ve come to expect of him, and he and Brandon deliver immensely!

As Phil Wickham readies to release his new Sing Along album later on this year (or early next year), not to mention his new Christmas album; “Love Of God” is a strong, powerful and impacting duet with Brandon, from one of my most impacting worship songwriters I’ve ever heard. There’s no reason not to listen to this track; so what are you waiting for? Maybe listen to it once, twice, three times, maybe more, as you eagerly wait for the new album, which should be awesome in every way! And…you can also let us know how much Phil’s track has impacted your life later on as well, in the comments below! Well done Phil, I can’t wait to hear what’s next in the pipeline!

It’s Brandon and Phil, and we’ve got a brand new song for you. Yeah, it’s called ‘Love of God.’ You guys, this is a modern hymn that we wrote together with our buddies Cody Carnes and Benjamin William Hastings. We cannot wait to sing this on tour and with our churches, and we hope that it might be a blessing for all of you and all your communities. It’s filled with so much truth. Our hearts are bursting. We just finished a music video. Cannot wait for you to hear it. Sing it. Hope it’s a blessing.

When I hear a song is connecting with the church, I know that 98% of that church is not thinking about, or maybe more, they don’t know who I am, or not thinking about me. They’re just singing a new song to Jesus.  And to think that that’s happening in churches, not just in the country but all over. It’s the biggest, hugest gift, and responsibility, and I just cannot, I don’t take one moment of that lightly.

My prayer would [be for] amazing revival in the church that would light a fire in people’s hearts to turn from wickedness, and turn from stuff that’s just not of Jesus, and turn from the selfishness, and stop being judgmental, and start just showing the love of Jesus in a pure, and simple, and sweet way to the world.  Just a new revival in the church, because the church here is huge — just sometimes it can get a little sleepy, and I’m speaking from my own experience.

There are so many people in a state of crisis of their faith. The people I know closely (are asking) – what is real? What do I believe? Then, you look outside of the church and outside the faith, obviously looking for hope. In a crazy world that seems like it’s shifting every week, they’re looking for some solid rock to stand on, that’s not shifting underneath their feet. And I believe I’ve found it – with all my heart – in the person of Jesus.

It’s so good I almost can’t believe it
Far beyond what hearts could ever dream
The God who set the galaxies in motion
Would descend to give His life for me

For what could make perfection bleed for sinners
What leads a King to pay so great a cost
All my life, my heart will sing the answer
Only the love of God

Singing oh, how great is the love of God
He paid our debt on that rugged cross
For all our days, we will sing our Savior’s praise
How great is the love of God

It’s so kind, it leads us to repentance
And it’s so bright, the darkness has to flee
Hallelujah, it cleared my guilty sentence
For I was bound but now I stand redeemed

For what could break the chains of any prison?
What force could rob the power from the grave?
What would trade my rags for heaven’s riches?
Only the love of God

Singing oh, how great is the love of God
He paid our debt on that rugged cross
For all our days, we will sing our Savior’s praise
How great is the love of God

Though I try, my mind can’t comprehend it
It’s so high, too marvelous for words
I could sing a million songs about it
And barely scratch the surface of Your worth

This all my life, the banner I’ll be waving
My anthem cry no matter what may come
And when I rise to walk the streets of heaven
I’ll still be singing this song (oh, my song)
For everything that You’ve done
How great the love of God (hey)

Singing Oh, how great is the love of God (how great is Your love)
He paid our debt on that rugged cross (he paid it all for me)
For all our days, we will sing our Savior’s praise
How great is the love of God

Singing Oh, how great is the love of God
He paid our debt on that rugged cross
For all our days, we will sing our Savior’s praise
How great is the love of God
How great is the love of God
