Message Mondays + Throwback Tuesdays (Get Down – Audio Adrenaline)

Underdog

This week I wanted to combine Message Mondays and Throwback Tuesdays into one post. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since Audio Adrenaline’s ‘Underdog’ album released. The theme of the album was present from start to finish, but one song really summed it up: “Get Down”. It was a song that everyone can relate to.

“This valley is so deep, I can barely see the sun. I cry out for mercy, Lord, and you lift me up again.”

Have you ever had one of those days, weeks, or months where everything, no matter what you do, just seems to go wrong? The video, which you can watch below, is a fun, cheesy, and quirky summation of the lyrics. It shows a couple of regular dudes just trying to make it through their day while everything seems like it’s out to get them. I know we’ve all had days like this.

The only thing we can really do on days like this is to remember where our help comes from. We’ve got a “Mighty Good Leader” coming to save us “Underdogs” whenever we “Get Down”. It’s not an instant fix. We have suffering for a reason. Sometimes it’s because of something we’ve done. Other times it’s because of our surroundings, but the common thread of God as our helper is consistent.

Next time you’re having a bad day, remember that we can always turn to God to pick us up. He’s always there for us. As 1 Peter 5:7 says: “Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.”

Watch the video for “Get Down” below and tell us if you have any good memories about this song, or a bad day you just need to get off your chest. Thanks for reading!
