Ever since I’ve listened to uplifting CCM/pop artists like Riley Clemmons (since 2018), Anne Wilson (since 2021) and Katy Nicole (since 2022)… there hasn’t been many new encouraging and uplifting artists that have inspired me and resonated with my soul. That ends now. This year alone, artists like Olivia Lane, Brennley Brown, Claire Leslie, Rachael Mac, and Jamie MacDonald have spoken to my spirit and have dropped many powerful, honest, vulnerable, poignant, and hard-hitting tracks. I’ve spoken about Olivia and her music (and I’ll endeavour to dive into the other artists in due time); but right now… let’s dive into Madison Watkins and her new singles “Spin” and “Goodbye”, her first two on Provident Label Group.

Writing and recording the song ‘Spin’ has helped me walk through anxiety, let go of my fears, and learn to live like a kid again. There is a lot going on in the world right now, and my hope is that this song will provide the perfect way to remind others to get out of their heads and reconnect with where they are in the here and now.

These two songs essentially speak for themselves. Pop in musical nature and uplifting in lyrical theme, “Spin” is a breezy, laid back and chilled anthem that speaks about slowing down, watching the world spin around and letting God move in ways you can’t comprehend yet can still trust in Him that He has what’s best for us. While “Goodbye” is a no-holds-barred and in-your-face song about saying goodbye to the negative and toxic things in your life because God has something better in store. Madison has a stirring and angelic voice similar to Tori Kelly and Rachael Lampa- and if these two songs are any indication, her debut album is sure to be highly anticipated and amazingly awesome as well! Well done Madison for these explosive and soothing songs about life, God and being present in the present! Can’t wait for the debut album, exciting times ahead!
