One of the most moving, earnest, honest and powerful newer CCM artists to have released a bunch of songs lately, is rising star Abby Robertson. A singer/songwriter that originated from Nashville TN, Abby has opened for the likes of The Beach Boys and Switchfoot, as well as performing in International Music Festivals in Israel, Malta, and Ethiopia, releasing pop music and country music. According to the biography on her website, she accomplished all of these feats and more all before her 20s; and though there is hardly any information about Abby aside from her website; this young and talented singer impresses me so much and is an incredible find. Similar in style to Leanna Crawford, Rachael Nemiroff and Riley Clemmons, Abby has wowed me personally with the release of her self-titled debut EP last year (which Jon reviewed, and I wholeheartedly agree on every point!); these songs have become very infectiously enjoyable toe-tappers and fun balls of truth. And as Abby’s impressive vocals remind us all that just because you’re not famous or popular or influential yet, doesn’t mean that your music can’t be poignant or enjoyable or meaningful; Abby reminds us all that the future is bright and that she is set for a long career in whatever music industry she chooses in the future.
Recently, Abby released her brand-new single “Without Your Love”. A 3 minute pop tune that fits right at home on CCM radio; Abby powerfully and eloquently relays to us that we would be nothing without the love of God permeating through us, and that His love is the only thing that could ever sustain us fully. A song that declares that we all need God’s love to live and to fully thrive in our environment; Abby earnestly highlights our need for God and our thankfulness and gratitude toward Him, given that He has invited us all into the family and the kingdom of God, as long as we believe in Him and that He died and rose again for our sins.
So there you have it- Abby Robertson’s new single “Without Your Love”. Sure, it’s a bit too poppy for sustained listening; but just like how artists like Lauren Daigle, Britt Nicole, Francesca Battistelli and Riley Clemmons each burst on the scene with their respective debut albums; I firmly predict that Abby will be popular in the upcoming years when she does release her full length debut album. Though you all may not agree with me; how about we listen to the song first? Check out “Without Your Love”… and see for yourself as to whether this song resonates with you. It may or may not, but I reckon that for anyone who loves CCM, or enjoys the aforementioned CCM artists I mentioned in this review; then Abby’s latest single is a must. Can we all agree that Abby is a future superstar in the making? 2Well done Abby, I can’t wait to hear what is next from you!
