Moriah Peters – You Carry Me

moriah peters you carry me

Since when are lyric videos interesting? I mean they’re normally just fancy written words on a plain coloured background, and nothing really fancy, right?

Well as recent as last year, and as early as a few years ago, music artists have been combining music and lyric videos and infusing both elements to create a pretty cool creative idea that has caught on quite a bit. Now ‘lyric videos’ from artists like Jamie Grace (“Beautiful Day”), Finding Favour (“Shake The World”), Bluetree (“Jesus Healer”) and Matthew West (“Do Something”) have been filmed ingeniously, with the artist present as the lyrics of the song flow across our screens.

Now, Moriah Peters, wife of Joel Smallbone who’s one half of the Aussie duo for KING& COUNTRY, who are both brothers of Rebecca St James (wow, that’s a mouthful!), releases her sophomore album Brave to stores in July 2014 via Reunion Records, and has unveiled the video for “You Carry Me”.

With a splash of colour and a vibrant kaleidoscope of hues and shades guaranteed to keep us interested, as well as catchy lyrics and an upbeat tempo driven by keys, Moriah’s new video is smartly filmed, and contains a metaphor if you watch it closely. For me, the song is about how God carries us in the times when we need to, and as Moriah’s tape recorder/boom box in the video (do they still manufacture these anymore?) is covered with paint, as the lyrics progress, the ‘incident’ reverses. Now I believe that the paint is representative of sin and we are the music box, and it is the Holy Spirit that washes the sin from us. But that’s my opinion though. So without further preamble, here’s the video!

So how do you like the video? Did it speak to you like it did to me? Are you going to purchase Brave when it releases this year? Does this song compare to Moriah’s “I Choose Jesus”? Let us know in the comments!
