Track Listing:

  1. Nothing To Hide

“…I want to bridge the gap between songs that sound like popular radio and songs that hold lyrics that are actually meaningful and communicate the Gospel. God has used songs to reveal truth to me and get me through challenging experiences. I want to create music has cool beats, but that ultimately it’s the word of God within the songs making the impact…” Catie Hurst is the latest artist to sign to Centricity Music, home of seasoned veterans such as Jason Gray, Andrew Peterson, Jonny Diaz and Aaron Shust, fan favourites such as Lauren Daigle and Jordan Feliz; as well as up and coming artists such as For All Seasons, North Point Inside Out, JJ Weeks Band and Carrollton. An every growing roster that I reckon houses some of the most underrated artists in the CCM industry, Catie challenges us in her debut single “Nothing To Hide” to be honest, open and real to God, as we reveal to Him our everything.

Standing at just over 3 minutes, this ball of summery pop goodness, led by toe tapping acoustic guiar and skilfully mixed electronic effects, just screams ‘dance, dance, dance’ all over it, as Catie shows us how to have fun and how to worship Jesus…both at the same time! As poppy as many other mainstream tracks right now, Catie’s offering lyrically is spot on, as we remember that anything we are ashamed of, or in any way we think we’ve fallen short, we can bring to God and He will forgive and not judge. He will love us no matter the stuff-ups we become heavily involved in. And as Catie eloquently puts it, that ‘…I’m known by You, I’m seen by You, I’m loved by You, It’s true…’, we remember the fact that Jesus loves each one of us immensely, and as Catie puts it, there is nothing we can hide from Jesus that He doesn’t already know. He sees through all of our walls and loves us anyway, all of our flaws, scars and imperfections. We are a new creation in Him, and it’s time we start living in freedom!

“…At different times in life, I’ve been so ruled by worrying. Worrying about what others think of me, worrying about my mistakes, and thinking I can’t turn to God with all of that. This song is the reminder that God already knows my heart and that I don’t’ have to hide from Him…” As far as debut singles go, Catie Hurst’s “Nothing To Hide” is a solid entry in what is sure to be a long, fulfilling career. Catie’s journey as a music artist is just beginning, and I for one am eager to see how she progreses over the upcoming years. Well done Catie for giving us all the reminder we need that everything we do is known by God, therefore it’s time to start living for Him as well. Can’t wait for your EP to release in August!
