Seph Schlueter and Leanna Crawford– We Sing (Joy To The World) – Single (Amazon mp3/iTunes)
Track Listing:
- We Sing (Joy To The World)
Have you ever been faced with yet another rendition of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”? Has the shopping centre started to play Michael Buble’s Christmas album on repeat yet? Aren’t you just a tad ‘tired’ of hearing the same old carols, despite how impacting and inspiring they are in isolation and in small doses? Seph Schlueter and Leanna Crawford are here to change all of that. Seph recently released his label debut EP Counting My Blessings while Leanna dropped her debut full length album Still Waters. And while both relatively new artists have dropped albums that we have yet to review (and will do so soon!); they’re both semi-veterans in the music scene, enough for me to take notice of a new brand-new original Christmas song. Original Christmas songs are a tricky thing- the artist has to get it just right. But thankfully both Seph and Leanna knock this melody “We Sing (Joy To The World” out of the park!
And as you all may have guessed, this brand-new song is an updated version of the traditional worshipful carol “Joy To The World”, but with an original added chorus. And though one may roll their eyes and question the originality of it all; I for one love this reinvented rendition that breathes new life into a carol that could become stale in the coming years (although I personally still love “Joy To The World” no matter the format!). And with Seph and Leanna injecting in a vitality, zeal and youthfulness that I haven’t heard in a while; I suggest that “We Sing (Joy To The World)” is a track that demands to be listened to, no matter if you love the original carol or not. Well done Seph and Leanna; I can’t wait to hear what’s next from you both in the future!
