Ever since the inception of American Idol in 2003, the reality competition has birthed some of America’s most successful artists and inspiring pop stars. Sure, there’s The Voice, ____’s Got Talent and The X Factor, but American Idol and the other incarnations including Australian Idol, was really the birthplace of the concept of everyday folk trying their hand at being a superstar, with varying degrees of success. Artists like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Danny Gokey, Colton Dixon, Daughtry, Jason Castro, Mandisa and Phillip Phillips have all come from American Idol, with each gathering their fan base post-Idol and making a name for themselves- some in the mainstream media and some in the Christian music industry. Now, yet another American Idol alum, pop/r&b/worship singer songwriter Jeremy Rosado (placed 13th on season 11 of American Idol), looks set to join the aforementioned illustrious company. Releasing his debut album Heartbeat in 2015, via Save The City Records, Jeremy dropped his highly anticipated sophomore project Rewind in 2017, and You in 2020.

But with Jeremy having taken a break from music shortly after You released, he came back in 2021 on The Voice, where he was mentored by Kelly Clarkson, and eventually signed to Capitol CMG. “Believe You Will” and “Come And See” as singles eventuated, and a full length album is imminent. But before we get to these two vibrant, emotional, honest and inspiring songs; let’s dive in deep into Jeremy’s past. While Jeremy has been the worship leader at Free Life Chapel in Lakeland, Florida since 2016; it was 10 years ago when he adopted his niece at 21, when he really had to grow up.

Coming off IDOL and…life happening and having to just put music on pause and to be completely honest after years of chasing it … I just kind of let it go… I thought the dream was gone. And so here we are 10 years later… It’s hard. I mean, I’m just starting, you know, but…leading people in worship has been the foundation for me. Just like growing on that and becoming a vocalist, understanding being on a platform and even though it’s worship, engaging with the crowd… it just has given me so much and it’s the foundation, and I love Jesus. There is something that I can …sit here …. and be like, ‘You know what God, use me,’

I’ve had moments where I first became a dad…and trying to figure out how He was going to provide, I mean, I’m 21-years-old trying to figure this out with a kid, and all the other things that are attached to this… He’s been so faithful to us, and so that’s what this song is about. ‘I believe You will…You’ll do this and You have before, God, You’ve proven to me that I’m not actually alone in this’. I don’t want to put out nothing but this kind of music that allows people to connect and be able to just draw from those complicated and hard situations— pull hope out of them.

Jeremy’s story is very inspiring, and as we are met with two songs of hope, positivity, optimism, heart for Jesus, and revitalising and overflowing life and life to the fullest; Jeremy continues to be a beacon of light for both the CCM market and the mainstream market. “Believe You Will” highlights God’s faithfulness and the fact that He always keeps His promises- the fact that the debut label single from Jeremy is a catchy melody is an added bonus; while “Come And See” is inspired by Jeremy’s sister’s sobriety journey.

My heart is in these lyrics. This song is the story of my sister, the journey we’ve walked for so many years, and the kindness of God in the midst of it. I wrote this song believing that one day she would be in the crowd singing this song as the testimony of her life. This song means so much to me simply because of the desperate place I wrote it out of. And here I am watching God perform a miracle in front of my eyes. I didn’t know that God was going to give me a miracle this fast.

With these two songs, though musically cliché, Jeremy Rosado has created a near-flawless musical sound and lyrical punch, worth many, many listens. It’s clear that Jeremy’s burning passion for Jesus and relatable lyrics show us that God is with us and faithful, and that no matter what we can always make a change in our life if we want to. With such weight to the stories behind these two songs, it’s no wonder that these melodies are so encouraging. Sure, the music sounds a tad too polished and not raw enough. But these lyrics and the heart behind them are incredibly personal and honest. So, should you make the plunge in listening to Jeremy’s new songs? Of course- you may find your new favourite anthem for the years ahead, or the healing that you need- fans of artists like Royal Tailor, Danny Gokey, and even similar style vocalists like Guy Sebastian and Stand Walker, will definitely love Jeremy and what he has to offer. Well done Jeremy, I can’t wait for what God wants to do next for you!
