Welcome to another Throwback Tuesdays post- this week we are delving into a couple of songs from one of my favourite CCM artists- Steven Curtis Chapman!
First of all, let’s look at one of my favourite songs and music videos of the 2000’s- “Live out Loud” (which is 13 years old, and probably my favourite pop song of 2001!) This video shows Steven singing in a van, on top of a bridge, and just generally having fun, as he and his bandmates show God’s love to the people that they interact with. Driven by acoustic guitar, this pop anthem, the first song on the album Declaration, is one of my favourites of Steven’s career so far, so if you want to, crank up the volume on high on this video, and sing the chorus as we actively share God’s love to our friends and family!
Wake the neighbors, get the word out
Come on… crank up the music… climb a mountain and shout
This is life we’ve been given meant to be lived out
So la la la la live out loud
If you want to listen to older SCC music, then “The Great Adventure” is for you, from the 1992 album of the same name. Seriously, I cannot be more excited for this song now than I was a few years ago. With a southern country flavour and atmosphere, the sometimes cheesy track (with Steven singing with his band on a farm and in a wide open field) compares the Christian walk to a great adventure. One of my favourite SCC songs from the 90’s, due to its catchiness and honest lyrics, that cut to the heart of the matter of what Christianity is truly about; this video also deserves to be in this installment.
So sit back, watch and enjoy these two Steven Curtis Chapman videos. Which one is your favourite?
