Message Mondays, Throwback Tuesdays and Worship Wednesdays – Not To Us, But To Your Name Be the Glory

How many of you like fame and adulation? Everyone? No one? Did anyone put up their hand just then? Or howabout I ask this question? Does everyone like to be told ‘well done’? Are we searching and searching, looking through the status, the fame, and friendship with others just to find out that what we’re really searching for us someone or even something to love and accept us the way that we are, and believe that the way that we are, as screwed up and messy as it can be, isn’t the way that we are going to stay? I know that question sounds like a mouthful, but just think about it for a moment. Are we living our lives in the moment, or thinking about the future? Are we focussing on our own needs (which includes the fame and adulation mind you) or are we focussing on others and what they would like to see happen in their lives? The title of the blog really hits home to me- not to us but to Your name be the glory. Have I really been living that out? If worship is a lifestyle as we have established previously, then are we really truly living as though we are not here to glorify ourselves in every aspect of our lives, but to glorify the One who gave us life and holds our thoughts, dreams, hopes, fears, despairs and everything else in His hands?

Sentimental Saturdays and Message Mondays (Media Can Influence Us More Than We Think)

It’s been a while since I’ve actually seen a movie. The last movie I saw was the remake of Annie, and the last movie I watched at the cinema was Guardians of the Galaxy. Since starting working full-time, I haven’t really been doing much of anything outside of work, as well as maintaining this site. Not that that is a bad thing, I really enjoy my work, yet it is on some of these days on the weekends when I become sentimental, and remember life as it once was. Rewind to ten years ago and I and my family were heavily invested in movies- often we’d travel to our local cinema a few times a year. While watching a movie as a family consisted more of watching and less of conversing and actually interacting, our times together watching a movie we all enjoyed is something that I cannot take for granted, especially now since movie-going is more of a luxury than ever.

Sentimental Saturdays and Message Mondays (Pondering about the Past and Placing Patience, Persistence and Perseverance in the Person who Perfectly embodies Peace and Perfection)

Isn’t it great to think about nostalgia for a moment? To ponder about what once was, to remember once upon a time when life was simpler and technology, the advent of it, and the ease of digital communication at the expense of face-to-face time wasn’t so much of a reality as it is now? Sometimes I do, I still do. I sometimes catch myself wondering what it would be like if the VHS never went out of fashion, or if the millennium bug did indeed hit way back in 1999 and it was in fact an apocalyptic age we’re living in now. Sometimes I even catch myself missing simple things- like how times were less complicated during primary and high school, and how now, in this moment, life can seem a lot more interesting, hard, difficult, enjoyable, daunting and rewarding, sometimes all at once.

Isn’t it a great fact to know we are alive? Here, now in this very moment, we are taking our next breath. Instead of worrying, fussing, thinking about tomorrow and wondering whether our next steps taken will turn into calamity, chaos or calm; we ought to contemplate on how we are living. And if we are living; we can rest assured that God isn’t done with us yet. It is in the busy moments where we can sometimes forget about the simple fact that we’re here on earth, and instead focus on the busy schedules and lives we lead.

Message Mondays (Matthew West’s “Strong Enough”)

strong enough

Admitting that you aren’t strong enough to last the day, week, hour or situation to your friends, family, and all the other people you care about can be a feat in and of itself. To be vulnerable to the point of sharing that we’re not ok, and that we need someone to be strong enough for both them and us; is something we all as humans need to realise is what should happen, every time we’re in the presence of people who do not judge, condemn or even despise. Because if Christ can forgive the inexcusable in us, surely when people admit to us their own shortcomings, all we can be is what Christ was for us- forgiving.

Message Mondays (Here’s My Heart)

crowder

Showing someone your heart can be a scary thing. To have someone else in the world know you inside out, all your dreams, hopes, fears, circumstances, dashed memories and ultimate triumphs, everything within your innermost being; is something even I can’t necessarily fathom. Sure, sharing your heart with your spouse and your family is one thing but to actually talk to someone else (not related to you) and share everything about yourself and hope their reaction isn’t one of disdain or dismay can take courage from the person sharing. But there comes a point when you realise- sharing with friends and family is one thing- you can see the reaction on their faces and whether it is of approval or disappointment. Sharing your innermost thoughts with God, who indeed already knows what you’re thinking, feeling, and even believing; is on a whole other level entirely.

Message Mondays (Matthew West- Day One)

I know it’s been a while since 365 Days of Inspiring Media has posted any blogs within the last few months. The reason in itself will have to be reserved for another blog entirely, but let me say this. 2014 was an eventful year for myself- receiving my first full time paying job, starting up a website and everything else that comes with just growing up and being given responsibilities that come with the territory of stepping up and working in a job that I myself didn’t see myself in a year ago today. So what does 2015 hold for me? Personally, I’m not sure. Aside from work, very little free time, and the fact that I’m working in my family in a role that I’m thoroughly enjoying; life is good. And in this Message Mondays post, I’m discussing about Matthew West’s new song “Day One”, and that whatever state we are in at the beginning of the year doesn’t need to be defining of that year itself. That every day is a chance to wake up to a new day and start again, however in a rut we may be in.

Message Mondays: Joyfully Serving Others For The Kingdom Of God (Matthew West’s Do Something)!

MW-do-something

Last week on Message Mondays, we delved into the themes present in Tenth Avenue North’s new song “No Man Is An Island”, and how God created us for community with him and also with other believers, that we are meant to live life in communion, relationship and fellowship with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ so that we can build each other up and live a live to the fullest and pleasing to God. This week on Message Mondays, we are talking about something I was reminded of in church yesterday, of a concept that I think we all need to understand and realise so that we can live in true freedom in God’s presence and love!
