Hello again! Two times in one day, isn’t this a treat! If you’ve read my previous best of 2017 post, then you’ll know I delved into my favourite 20 songs released from July – September 2017. So what else could I post about, given the posts we’ve already written about in the ‘Best of 2017’ series? Well, it’s time to speak about 10 releases that are most anticipated (by myself!) that are set to release within the next three months. Though the year’s gone by and there are thousands of releases that have been unveiled in 2017, let us remember that there are 90 odd days remaining in the year for us to be blessed with new music and up and coming artists. So let us without further ado delve into 10 albums releasing in the last quarter of 2017 that we are excited about!
It’s that time of the year again. The end of September/beginning of October means that we’re due to post another best of 2017 list! Excited? This time, it’s time to reveal our favourite songs from July – September 2017. You can check out our previous ‘best of 2017 song lists’ here (Jan-March 2017) and here (April-June 2017), and be sure to let us know your thoughts on your favourite songs!
Just a few months ago, I posted my favourite songs of 2017 thus far, from January – March 2017. Now here is a follow-up post, favourite songs from April – June 2017. And while this type of series hasn’t really been done before (in previous years, I’ve only posted one ‘top songs of ____’ post at the end of that particular year), I’ve said, and I will say again, that 2017 is the year of the song. Not just hit songs on albums, but just hit songs period- whether it’s on an album or just released as a single. Because frankly these days, when I look at the year up until now objectively, I have realised that more often now than years previously, artists are releasing singles as opposed to new albums. Don’t get me wrong, the number of albums this year is just as much, if not more than last year. It’s just that within these last few months, we have been blessed with tracks that aren’t necessarily attached to any album. And maybe that’s a good thing. To not have to wait until an artist as a collection of songs that they can release to listeners. Often if that is the case, artists may have to wait for management approval, or they’ll have to discuss about radio format and marketability before they release an album. In 2017, with artists releasing more songs as opposed to albums, we are ever reminded that in such an industry like the music industry, it takes a lot for an album or even a song to be released on iTunes- so we ought to be appreciative when an artist does release something, be it an album or a single.
Yes, I know that WOW Hits 2017 releases in September 2016 (5 months away), but it’s never too early to predict which artists will be highlighted on the new compilation album. Every year, 3 artists are highlighted that the executives and powers that be deem to be artists that have made a substantial impact in that current year in terms of radio hits and powerful songs. So in 2016, which 3 artists do you reckon will get the ‘green light’ to appear on the annual WOW Hits compilation in the BONUS category (not the 6 bonus deluxe edition tracks but the 3 on the standard edition)? Who knows, but below are 10 artists I believe will be in the running for such a honour come September 2016.
Another year in music, another year trying to pick which artists will make a big spark in 2016, those who are either relatively new, or those have had a good career til now, yet have been under the radar til recently. Within a sea of many, many music artists, here are 15 that I believe will become popular this coming year ahead, artists who have tested the boundaries of what Christian music is, and what is should sound like. Without no delay, here are the 15 artists that I reckon ought to be recognised in a year that’ll continue to have more new artists than the last.
