planetboom – Run To You (Single) (Amazon mp3/iTunes)

Track Listing:

  1. Run To You

As I’ve said before in a previous review, if you put Planetshakers, Chris Tomlin, Lecrae, Matt Redman, Crowder, Jesus Culture, KB, Desperation Band, and Hillsong UNITED in a room together, and asked them to write a song, “Jesus Over Everything” would be the song. Just read by review of the track from planetboom, and see why I think this song will propel the band to greater heights and international stardom. Planetboom is indeed a band that embodies the passion and genre of the aforementioned artists, and “Jesus Over Everything” is the song that is as awesome and hard hitting as songs from these aforementioned artists. Yet prior to hearing Planetboom’s latest single “Jesus Over Everything”, I had no idea that there was even a youth band birthed out of Planetshakers, even though Planetboom already released 2 singles in 2017 (which I may or may not review in the near future!). However, one listen to “Jesus Over Everything”, which released in early June, and debuted as a music video on New Release Today (how I found myself to come across the song!); and I was hooked. Literally. This song, in my opinion, is probably the most inspiring and impacting song I have heard all year (aside from Casting Crowns’ “Only Jesus” which released today!). Yep, it’s no joke. Sorry for KING And COUNTRY (“joy”), sorry Steven Curtis Chapman (“Remember To Remember”), sorry Building 429 (“You Can”), sorry Phil Wickham (“Living Hope”), sorry Hillsong Worship (“Who You Say I Am”), and, yeah, sorry Cory Asbury (“Reckless Love”). That’s how powerful “Jesus Over Everything” actually is, I reckon. You may not agree with me, but let’s just stop disagreeing and debating, even before we’ve actually listened to this track, and let us stop and just dwell upon the 5-minute worship anthem.

With the aforementioned quote taken from one of my previous reviews of planetboom; the fact still remains that “Jesus Over Everything” is one of my most inspiring songs of the year. A few months ago the group unveiled “Lemme Tell Ya”, a fast paced rock anthem with an indie/garage band feel, and yet again the band have surprised me with their brand new song released this past week, as “Run To You” is straight up worship and has a feel of old school early 2000’s Planetshakers- which is definitely a good thing! Lyrically simple and musically unassuming, we are met with a powerful moment of praise and worship, as we give honour and glory to our King; crying out that ‘…all that I need is, found in You, Jesus, Your presence is my home…’– and as we eagerly await the next new single, or perhaps a full length album, let us close our eyes and wonder in awe over such a compelling and impacting melody!

“Jesus Over Everything” is a song that, to me, will never get old. It’s a song that can be sung today, in 1 years’ time, or even in 50 years’ time; and the effect will still be the same- with the Holy Spirit anointing this song there will be no doubt that many people will effect positive change in their life, and give over their everything to God after hearing what Planetboom has to say. The same thing is about “Run To You” (although not “Lemme Tell Ya” at this stage!)- which even is just as good as the song of the same name from The Ember Days! So how about I hand over the mic to Planetboom, and let them invite you into a worship experience like no other? And before I go, let me ask- are you surrendering everything over to Jesus? Is He over everything? If not, why not? Are you telling the world about Him?
