London Gatch– New Stories (Single) (Amazon mp3/iTunes)

Track Listing:

  1. New Stories

Amongst newbies and veterans alike such as Kutless, 7eventh Time Down, Disciple, David Dunn and Ashes Remain; we are now blessed to hear a new addition to BEC Recordings. Formerly one of the worship leaders of Elevation Worship, worship artist London Gatch is set to unveil her debut solo album this year (or perhaps early next year!), and earlier this year she dropped her debut single on BEC Recordings, titled “Jesus Only You”. London also unveiled 2 new promotional singles “You Never Walk Away” and “Oh What Perfect Love”, and you can read our reviews of all three singles here, here and here…and now that you have, let’s dive into London’s 4th single “New Stories”. With the debut single being more worshipful (standing tall at around 5 minutes), and the second single more radio friendly and pop, with the length at a bite-size and accessible 3 and a half minutes; “Oh What Perfect Love” was a piano only 5 minute grandiose and epic worship anthem. “New Stories” continues on with the worship vein, although the track is more hymn like and anthemic in nature (at the same time!). With vocals similar to Laura Story and Jesus Culture’s Kim Walker-Smith; London’s efforts here are also nothing short of phenomenal. And though we only hear the piano start the song, and then the track segues into something more- a rousing orchestral type melody; London’s heartfelt vocals and evident passion here, as she reiterates that Jesus Christ in moving in our lives all the time, creating new stories for us to live and be an active part of; is commendable and definitely something she can be proud of.

London’s first 2 singles were thoroughly engaging and inspiring, however the 3rd single, much more lullaby-ish, nearly put me to sleep. Not so with “New Stories”, which I reckon is one of the most compelling and impacting melodies of 2018. With London as passionate and fervent as I have ever heard, we are met with an urgent and ardent cry, asking God to come and invade our lives and move in our lives, bringing to life new stories and bringing forth things in our life that we would never have hoped of, dreamed of, or imagined- definitely in a good way! Standing tall at just over 6 minutes, London has created a masterpiece here- there’s no other way to put it, and no other way to convince you, except to say, ‘listen to the song!’.

As the same with Mack Brock earlier in the year, who also left Elevation Worship to pursue a solo career (and released his debut album Greater Things way back last month!); London Gatch has followed suit, and she has delivered a near-flawless pair of singles in “Jesus Only You” and “You Never Walk Away”, both well worthy of multiple listens in my opinion. “Oh What Perfect Love” isn’t as engaging as the previous two, however it’s still solid, and deserves a listen if you want to be encouraged and inspired by some strong biblical truth. The 4th single “New Stories” on the other hand, is phenomenal and nothing short of brilliant, While we won’t know until maybe a few months’ time when London’s album is releasing, this song and the previous three, will all definitely be on repeat until then (well maybe not “Oh What Perfect Love” that much!, and should be on each of your playlists on spotify and iTunes as well! What more can I say about London’s sheer songwriting and worship leading brilliance, that deserves maybe a WOW Worship inclusion whenever one releases next? Not much more, except…go buy/listen to these four tracks. Just listen and be amazed; I guarantee it will be worth the effort.
