Top 10 ___: 10 Songs from the 1990s That Will Be Surely Missed If They Weren’t Written

In light of the facebook post by DC Talk last week, and the anticipation by anyone who is anyone who loves music in general, about the update on social media DC Talk are going to undertake later on today; I thought this post would be fitting. Songs from the 1990s can seem like decades ago (and it was), but sometimes, and I’m guilty of this, is that sometimes all I’m listening to on my iTunes playlist is the newer songs. When I stop and wonder and think- what happens if these songs in the 1990s weren’t written? How would the musical landscape change then? So here are 10 songs we as a site thought were impactful and pivotal during the 1990s in the Christian music scene, and if these songs weren’t written, then the whole landscape of CCM would look quite different. Read below to see what our 10 choices were.

Top 10 ___: Top 10 Artists Within the Last Few Years that are not American

The CCM community is humungous, and while I like my fair share of artists like MercyMe, Casting Crowns, TobyMac, Building 429 and the like, sometimes I like to put on an album of an artist that doesn’t come from America. Not that Americans don’t produce great CCM, quite the opposite. But rather I’ve realised that artists from Canada, Australia and even the U.K. seem to employ a broader sense of style, and music that is somewhat more ingenious and interesting to listen to compared to the endless sea of American CCM that floods the K-Love and Air 1 airwaves. Hopefully these 10 artists I’ve listed below will encourage you all to broaden the musical landscape of whatever Christian music you listen to. So what are my favourite 10 artists within the last few years that are not from America? Read on to find out.

Throwback Tuesdays & Worship Wednesdays- Favourite Worship Albums of 2006

It’s always good to keep up to date in terms of worship music. Yet in keeping in with the trends of the most popular worship song of today (we all know right now it’s “Good, Good Father”), we can sometimes miss the beauty that it is in listening to good worship music of years gone by. So this post will honour and commemorate worship albums of the past, in particular 2006. It was in 2006 that I started to branch out and listen to a wide variety of Christian music. So what are my favourite worship albums of that year? Read on to find out.

Top 10 ___: Ten Artists Vying for the Coveted “BONUS SONG” Spot on WOW Hits 2017

Yes, I know that WOW Hits 2017 releases in September 2016 (5 months away), but it’s never too early to predict which artists will be highlighted on the new compilation album. Every year, 3 artists are highlighted that the executives and powers that be deem to be artists that have made a substantial impact in that current year in terms of radio hits and powerful songs. So in 2016, which 3 artists do you reckon will get the ‘green light’ to appear on the annual WOW Hits compilation in the BONUS category (not the 6 bonus deluxe edition tracks but the 3 on the standard edition)? Who knows, but below are 10 artists I believe will be in the running for such a honour come September 2016.

WORSHIP WEDNESDAYS- FAVOURITE WORSHIP SONGS OF THE 2010s

What a year 2016 has been thus far. In fact, what a decade the 2010s have been in terms of worship music. Earlier on in 2016, I posted my favourite 10 worship songs of the 2000s, featuring songs from Delirious?, Newsboys and Tim Hughes to name a few. Now I have decided to release a follow-up post, this time my favourite 10 worship songs of the 2010s thus far (since this is 2016, I’m sure I’ll have a different 10 by the end of 2019. So what are my favourite tracks? Read on to find out.

Sentimental Saturdays (Motivations)

It’s been a few months since my last Sentimental Saturdays post. In fact, the last time I posted was on January 9th, as I delved into 10 things that any family would consider to undertake on the weekends if given a chance. And then before that was in November, where I discussed about two songs that have impacted me of late, Newsboys’s “Guilty” and Rachel Platten’s “Stand By You”, and how both these songs have ministered to me in both a personal and interpersonal way as each of these artists have given the reminder to boldly stand firm in beliefs, even if others don’t stand alongside. So…2 Sentimental Saturdays blogs in 5 months. One may think there’s something wrong with my writing style, others may think I may be losing passion for these types of blog posts. Yet there is the other train of thought, realising that often, life just gets in, and sometimes, even if we want to write something of value, time just seems to not be on our side, and every time we sit and want to write a blog, or review an album, we realise that it’s time for bed, and then the cycle of work/eat/sleep repeats the following day. While I may not have planned for the gap between Sentimental Saturdays posts to be that humungous, it nevertheless was so.

Top 10 ___: Top Ten Worship Songs That Released in 2015/16 That Will Be Popular This Year!

2016 has been quite a year for worship music. Songs and albums from artists like Chris Tomlin, Jesus Culture, Meredith Andrews, Matt Redman, Matt Maher, Passion and Bethel have all charted in the last six months, and have all circled around the globe with their songs being sung in churches and Sunday Morning services for some time now. In honour of Austin and Lindsey Adamec’s powerful worship EP that released on March 25th, here are 10 songs I reckon that will be popular for the remainder of the year, either on radio or in people’s churches and homes.

WOW HITS 2017: What’s Your Prediction (Part 2)?

While it has only been a few months since my first prediction of what I thought was going to be on WOW Hits 2017, within that time span many songs released to radio, and I have since revised my proposed list. While I know that no WOW Hits list can ever be perfect, I do know that timeliness is the key, and songs on the coveted WOW Hits compilation should reflect the claim that these songs on the compilation are indeed the top songs of that given year. While that indeed a discussion for another day and another time, what I will say is that choosing 39 songs that I believe should reflect the year of 2016 is a very difficult thing. Because frankly, you’d probably need two WOW Hits albums released per year to capture the number of hits. Nevertheless, this is what they have- WOW Hits albums releasing once a year in September sometime. So without further ado, here is my proposed list of songs I reckon should be at least considered for WOW Hits 2017 (note: a fair amount of songs included on my list in the post WOW Hits 2017: What’s Your Prediction (Part 1) are not present here and vice versa).
