Top Twenty Artists And Songs That Should Be Present On WOW Hits 2017!

wow hits 2016

Welcome to the latest instalment of our most recent blog series Top Tens. Last time, we unveiled 10 artists and songs that in our opinion should have been included on the official WOW Hits 2016 tracklisting, but weren’t. This time, on this special post, and in keeping with a similar theme, I will take an educated guess and list 20 songs that should be shoe-ins for WOW Hits 2017. Some songs have released, so audio slides/lyric videos/music videos/song stories will be below, but others haven’t been released yet and I am just predicting based on the artist. Will these tracks be there in a year’s time? Only time will tell.

1. Chris August – He’s Still Here- Chris’s hit song “The Maker” from the album of the same name was evidently missing from WOW Hits 2016, so how about the second single from his new album on Wow Hits 2017?

2. Matthew West – Grace Wins- It’s the follow up single to Matthew’s smash hit “Day One”- why wouldn’t this song be included?

3. Big Daddy Weave – My Story- the first single of their upcoming new album Beautiful Offerings hitting stores September 18th; this song about sharing our testimony with everyone we meet is very inspiring.

4. Third Day – Your Words- Third Day have never failed to impress me with their worshipful heart combined with their southern rock roots, and “Your Words” is no exception, a beautifully crafted single highlighting that only Jesus’ words can bring us new life and can comfort.

5. Jeremy Camp – Same Power- Jeremy’s new single from his latest album I Will Follow is sure to please all who listen. The message that God’s power that raised Him from the dead is the same power that is living in us, boggles our minds as we do even greater works than Jesus did.

6. Dan Bremnes – Where The Light Is- I know, I know, this pop/CCM song by the newest addition to Capitol Christian Label Group, is probably a year too late, but WOW Hits is notorious for placing a few un-timely songs on each compilation every year, so I reckon Dan’s thoughtful and inspiring melody may be one of them next year!

7. Josh Wilson – No More- With “That Was Then, This Is Now” criminally absent on this year’s WOW Compilation, there’s absolutely no way that Josh Wilson will be missing next year! “No More”, a potential new single, is as good a song as any to be included on WOW Hits 2017, don’t you reckon?

8. Brandon Heath – Behold Our God- I think Brandon has been present on almost every WOW Hits album since when he first was present, and I reckon Wow Hits next year will be no different, with his second single from No Turning Back.

9. Lauren Daigle – First- Lauren’s debut album How Can It Be is quite popular and highly praised by critics and listeners alike. “First” fits right at home on a WOW album, what do you think?

10. Jason Crabb – He Knows What He’s Doing- Jason has just signed to Reunion Records, part of Provident Label Group, one of the big 3 major record labels. I reckon that’s reason enough for the song to be included, don’t you think? Plus, Jason Ingram co-wrote the song!

11. Plumb – Resurrection- Though the second single from Exhale is quite worshipful, there’s a sense of honesty, raw emotion and vulnerability that has me yearning for more. One of my favourite songs of 2015!

12. Audio Adrenaline – Move- The second single from Sound Of The Saints is as close as you will probably get to old school Audio A.

13. Hawk Nelson – Live Like You’re Loved- It’s the second single from Diamonds and personally my favourite song from the album.

14. The Afters – Live On Forever- The new song from Josh Havens and his friends isn’t out yet- it releases August 28th; but with their popularity and critical acclaim from previous songs, I would not expect anything less than this song being on WOW Hits 2017!

15. Rend Collective – Every Giant Will Fall- After Rend Collective’s first appearance, and a welcome one at that, on this year’s WOW Hits, a second appearance is in order, right? What about the second single from As Family We Go?

16. All Things New – Can’t Hold Me Down- The first single from All Things New’s new album The Good News; the song is catchy, and deserves something… perhaps we’ll see these guys on WOW Hits 2017!

17. Sanctus Real – Longer Than A Lifetime- If the final song from Sanctus Real, with Matt Hammitt as lead singer, isn’t included, then it will probably because the band don’t want the song on the album. But if the band does, then this song will be there, as a tribute to Matt and honouring his future endeavours.

18. Tim Timmons – Awake Our Soul- Tim’s sophomore album drops in October, and the title track is a perfect radio friendly pop/CCM tune fit for WOW Hits!

19. Capital Kings – Into Your Arms- The first single from the pop/electronic duo’s sophomore album II has me dancing and tapping my feet.

20. TobyMac – Love Feels Like- Because it’s dc Talk! No need for another reason!

  1. I think First, Into Your Arms, and Same Power will definitely make the list next year. Not sure about the others since I haven’t heard most of them yet, but I do hope at least a few of them make it.
